New Member Education

Here at Chi Phi, not only do we educate our new members to become new Chi Phi brothers, we also educate them to become better men. Some of the material s we cover are as follows:

• History of our Fraternity, Chapter, and House
• House rules
• Career building advice: resume building, how to interview, etc.
• How to… change a tire on a car, fix up a bicycle, use power tools, tie a tie, etc.
• What to do… at a formal dinner, at a party, etc.

Throughout the whole process, the main focus of the new member education program is to create a closely knit pledge class. We believe that having a close house starts with having close pledge classes and we cater our program to facilitate this.

To compliment the teachings, there are different outings and events that the class does together to build the relationships in the class. For example, the pledge class organizes and goes on a retreat one weekend, organizes a community service event for the whole brotherhood, and organizes a social event for the house. To increase the class’s knowledge of Boston, they go on different photo missions and scavenger hunts around the city.

The new member education program of the Beta Chapter of Chi Phi builds relationships within the class, teaches skills that these men will have forever, and creates a class that will lead our house.
